Katie Coleman

That's my name up there, hello.

I'm a graduate of BA (Hons) Graphic Communication (Digital Media) with first class honours from UCCA - currently working as a web designer at The Storm in London.

As a fan of all things web-based but also an avid reader of Situationist texts and revolutionary practices - I have a love/hate relationship with graphic design. On the one hand I can see the value of beautiful things and successful communication, on the other side I worry about overlooking use-value and the culpability of design within this "Consume All!" climate.

It's hardly rocket science, what we do, but my inner geek gets a kick out of sorting information into accessible, elegant outcomes. A strong idea poorly implemented will rarely be as effective as a poor idea brilliantly realised - and I hope to help the strong ideas find their audience.

Aside from making things look nice (I hope) and waxing lyrical about our consumer driven society, I also enjoy walking very fast past slow pedestrians (is this an Olympic sport yet?) and eating potato bread - seek this stuff out, it's amazing.

If anyone's interested in helping me get into design writing, I'd love to hear from you. For everyone else, thanks for upping the Google stats, now go outside and enjoy some fresh air.
